Players & Events: Dream Show Control, Creating-Interactive Virtual Production Systems for Theatre

Dream’s show control team discuss the evolution, motivations and build of the systems that introduced real-time digital puppetry in the Royal Shakespeare production of The Tempest in 2017 and then powered Dream in March 2021. The intersection of backstage craft, real-time animation driven by live performance, and audience interaction systems is a study in how to build tech in the service of story and make new work in a multidisciplinary team.
